Well, shit. I guess if what they say holds true, that Oppo and all the other Kinja blogs are being euthanized, then this and next week’s threads will be the last. I’ve had fun doing these for the last few years. I’m gonna miss it.
Let’s say a prayer for Boyz II Men. I assume they’re Eagles fans .
Talking about my team below, nothing to see here...

I would love to talk all day long about the Chargers-Broncos game last week and how awesome it turned out, but I’ll spare you. One thing it did do was prepare me for the week that was the election. It turned out very similar. Existential panic for most of it followed by joy, and topped off with mostly lame dancing. I don’t think you can possibly know how bleak it was for us in the early going. I’m back to talking about the Broncos’ offense, by the way . Go back and watch the first 2 1/2 quarters of that game. Or, conversely, just have someone kick you in the nuts. It was the worst offensive play calling I’ve seen. Thank God for Philip Lindsey. This week, they’re off to Atlanta. You know, the other team that blows big leads all the time. I’ll say this, if the Broncos can’t beat the Falcons, then the rest of the season is just a big preseason for 2021. I heard some people tweet ing Drew Lock should be benched in the first half. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. The whole point is to see if he’s a long term solution, and the only way to do that now is to leave him in for the rest of the year. Brett “Mark — I mean Brett” Rypien is not going to suddenly be franchise material. It’s ride or die with Lock for the rest of the year, and if it doesn’t work out then, well, we’re screwed. Unfortunately for this game, Shelby Harris is trapped in the Covid protocol. That’s a huge loss for them. I would love to pick the Broncos, but if the Falcons choose to have their shit together today it’s probably going to be them taking the W.

Because my Broncos are playing in Atlanta, we’re stuck with it being an early game on CBS. And because the NFL hates us, we get to follow that with the Steelers pounding the Cowboys in the late slot. Why would we want to watch a competitive game like Dolphins-Cardinals, right? I wish the NFL had relegation so we could get rid of the entire NFC East in one swoop. Over on Fox, we get nothing in the early slot (not unusual for us in the slot opposite the Broncos broadcast), but an afternoon game that we in Denver are all definitely interested in; Raiders at Chargers. The Raiders are hard to figure out. They can beat the Chiefs, but succumbed to the awful Patriots. I think they might lose this game. The Broncos would certainly want them to in order to gain any ground in the division. No one is going to catch up to the Chiefs, but the extra added playoff spot (or two if the NFL goes to the 16-team playoff because of ‘Rona) could mean one or two more teams in the West get in. If the Raiders lose and the Broncos win, it will make their week 10 game actually interesting with both teams at .500. Moving on, SNF is Saints-Buccaneers. This will probably be a better game than the Week 1 meeting. I think the Bucs will win, but I wouldn’t put money on it. Monday Night is *checks schedule* *vomits*
The rest:
Seahawks at Bills - Oh man. Too bad this is going on at the same time as my game. My gut tells me Seahawks, but I don’t trust it.
Ravens at Colts - Wow, another interesting one. Another one where I don’t trust my gut (Ravens). I hope I’m right, because I always look forward to seeing Philip Rivers mouth the word “BULLCRAP!!” on the sidelines.
Texans at Jaguars - Oh, there it is. I knew we couldn’t have a full slate of good games. I guess Texans? Actually, waiter, cancel that order . I’ll just have the bread, thanks.
Bears at Titans - # BearsAren tReal
Panthers at Chiefs - Christian McCaffrey is back. That could make this actually entertaining. Chiefs probably win. I expect it to be a high-scoring game .
Giants at Football Team Six - I remember there used to be a lemon-lime soda called Teem. I got nothin’.
Lions at Vikings - I really want the Lions to pull to .500. Please let that happen.
Dolphins at Cardinals - Sign me up for more scenes of Ryan Fitzpatrick in short shorts. Sorry, what were we talking about?
Bengals, Browns, Rams, and Eagles are like BYE, BITCH.
I love all of you so much. When Oppo disappears, it’s going to leave a big hole in my heart. I know we’re going to try to move on to another platform, but I also know from experience that it won’t be the same. If we’re lucky, wherever we go it’ll be good enough. Take care of yourselves.

Go Bills! This should be a really great game that
I am both excited and terrified for
. I shouldn’t have drank as much as I did last night because I am going to drink even more during this game while yelling at my tv

Sounds like how I’d describe our game. But I won’t have the sweet relief of alcohol to ease my pain if it goes sideways since I’m on call this weekend.

13:30 1Q, Texans 7, Glitter Kitties 7. Apparently, their defense is hot trash, too.

The Broncos defense is struggling a bit. We're down Shelby Harris, AJ Bouye, and Bryce Callahan. That's not good. Down 10-0 as we speak.

Also my Bears are shit. And Matt Nagy is shit for running a token ass trick play with Trubisky in the Wild Cat last week and now the kid is on IR.

Totally could've seen that one going either way. Lock just doesn't seem consistent at all though.

He’s not, but it’s still for all intents and purposes his rookie year. I think this is only his 11th start? The offense didn’t look as patently awful as it did last week; our defense was completely awol for most of the game. He still made a bad pick trying to force it down the field, but he came back after that and threw two TDs and ran for one. He’s definitely responsible for 7 of the Falcons points that they scored after his interception, but the defense gave up 27 points on their own. He's right about where he should be in his progression, but has to start cutting out the dumb picks when he forces it.

I hear what you’re saying, but I think if he doesn’t make some big steps by the end of the season they ought to look at moving on. Lots of good QB's in the upcoming draft.

I’m having a tough time figuring out the NFC this year. The “best” teams keep giving us these weird games where they may as well not show up. Brady and Co. At least makes me feel a bit better about Seattle’s loss.
So where do you think Fitzpatrick will be off to next? Seems like quite a few teams will be in need of some help come next season and he had a pretty good showing up until being benched

I don’t necessarily think they’ll move on, because they don’t have to. But it’s not inconceivable that they might try to add someone to push him, like Sam Darnold. Elway liked Darnold before that draft. I’d bet we go that route instead of drafting another QB.
But again, despite the negatives I am seeing progress with him. I’ve seen a lot of bad QB play here over the last 4 years, and before that the Kyle Orton and Tebow years. Lock isn’t nearly as bad as what we’ve had. He’s got a lot of games left this year, and if he can pull out an 8-8 record it’ll be substantial. Remember, we lost our best defensive player (Von Miller) , our best receiver (Courtland Sutton), our big free agent pickup (Jurrell Casey), our Right Tackle (Ja’wuan James), and in this game alone we were missing our starting secondary AND another of our best defensive players. Being at 3-5 isn’t exactly unexpected. Most of us here have more of a problem with the play calling on offense. I swear, Drew Lock is the second coming of Jake Plummer. I loved Jake, but he could drive you nuts with some of his decisions. That and he would go off-schedule a lot and Mike Shanahan does NOT like it when his QB doesn’t follow his script. That’s how we ended up with Jay Cutler.
It is what it is. I think he definitely has something. Hopefully it’ll develop.

No, I think we all know Jimmy will end up back with Bill Belichick.
Maybe we could take advantage of the Packers doing everything they can to piss off Aaron Rodgers, though.

No, I meant Rodgers coming to the Broncos. We have a history of picking up free-agents. Do you think he’d mind coming to a team that has no discernible offensive line? That’s not a problem, right?

He’s probably ready to be done with the cold and snow. Ready to head home to CA. And yeah, going from a top OL to Swiss cheese might not be desirable (not that ours is much better).
